Evidence for Learning works with organisations to map their improvement frameworks to The Teaching & Learning Toolkit.
International research has concluded that addressing low performance within each school is central to tackling educational disadvantage. Teach To Lead equips teachers with the skills to successfully navigate the challenging transition from classroom teacher to school leader, creating a pipeline of school leaders working in low socioeconomic communities.
Teach To Lead encompasses targeted workshops, a community of peers, and the personal support of a coach to develop leadership and management skills that drive student achievement.
As a Teach To Lead Fellow undertaking an Impact Initiative there are three areas of goals for change projects:
Student achievement (e.g. academic growth or mastery) |
Student wellbeing (e.g. connectedness, motivation, confidence, retention, resilience, etc.) |
Teacher quality (e.g. demonstrated practice) |
As you get started on your Impact Initiative, it is important to understand that the Toolkit:
- Combines evidence from a range of different research studies into a single average for each area. There is no guarantee that this average will be the impact in your school. Looking at the range outlined in the Technical Appendix for each approach (e.g. Feedback) will give you a clearer idea of the potential impact at your school.
- Provides a measurement of academic outcomes (effect size translated into months' impact on learning) with all the benefits and limitations of that particular focus.
- Is an introduction to education research, a beginning point to start considering changes you would like to make.
Taking a deep dive into the materials within the What should I consider section and the Australasian Research Summaries for your approach/s will help you to identify what are the 'active ingredients' (e.g. changes to teaching and therefore changes in learning) that will help you have an impact.
