Meet the team behind Evidence for Learning
Evidence for Learning has been incubated by Social Ventures Australia (SVA). Our team is made of expert members from SVA's Education team.
Matthew Deeble – Director
Matthew has more than 20 years’ experience in building and running enterprises in education and health. He was involved in provisioning the first Internet services in Australian schools and developing internet management software used by thousands of schools in Australia, NZ, the UK and USA.
More recently he has worked on data, identity and privacy projects for the National Schools Interoperability Program and on an online career profiling service in Higher and Vocational Education.
He is also a non-executive director of the evidence efficiency platform; Covidence.
Matthew is responsible for Evidence for Learning's strategy, fundraising and system engagement and promotion.

Dr. Pauline Ho - Associate Director
Pauline joined the Evidence for Learning team in October 2017 and oversees the program development, evaluation and community leadership of the Learning Impact Fund.
Prior to working at SVA, Pauline was a teacher practitioner for 7 years. In recent years, Pauline has led several federal and state funded research projects in the education and health sectors in organisations including Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL), Institute for Safety, Compensation and Recovery Research (ISCRR) at Monash University and the National Institute of Education in Singapore. Her work primarily focused on building and evaluating strategic policy initiatives such as the national evaluation of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, and in developing solutions for effective practice. She has also consulted on international projects in education quality and evaluation.
Pauline graduated with a PhD in Education from the University of Sydney and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and English and a Master in Education from the National Institute of Education (Singapore). Her PhD thesis investigates the impact of the national curriculum on the social outcomes of academically disadvantaged students in Singapore, recognised for several fellowship awards.

Danielle Toon - Associate Director
Danielle is responsible for developing international evidence alliances, supporting education authorities to use evidence assets, and managing technology projects for Evidence for Learning.
Danielle has over fifteen years’ experience in strategy, policy, research, design and implementation projects for schools, education systems and large corporations. Danielle is a consulting expert to an OECD study on teacher preparation, and in recent years managed a global project on initial teacher education for Learning First in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Prior to this, Danielle led an indigenous education reform organisation, advised on education policy for state and federal governments, and was a managing consultant for IBM Global Business Services.
Danielle holds a Masters in Instructional Leadership from the Melbourne Graduate School of Education and a first class honours degree from the University of New South Wales in Business and Technology.

Dr. Tanya Vaughan - Associate Director
Tanya is responsible for the product development, community leadership and strategy of the Teaching & Learning Toolkit.
Tanya has worked in education in policy design, implementation and evaluation in key Australian organisations including Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) and Principals Australia Institute (PAI). She has consulted on international and national projects in leadership in education and evaluation with Learning First and Educational Transformations. She was lead consultant in investigating the impact of programs in the arts on outcomes for students in highly disadvantaged settings which resulted in a book for the international market.
Tanya has co-authored one international book, three chapters, four journal articles, eight media items and 19 conference presentations/workshops in educational research. Tanya has also published within her field of bioinformatics and genomics with five peer reviewed journal articles and eight conference presentations.
Tanya is an Honorary Fellow at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education at the University of Melbourne. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Monash University), Bachelor of Education (Queensland University of Technology), Professional Certificate in Instructional Leadership (MGSE) and Doctor of Philosophy (Griffith University).

Shona Saxton – Marketing Manager
Shona works across all marketing activities. She is responsible for marketing plans development and delivery including stakeholder plans, communications and marketing communications across Evidence for Learning.
Previously, Shona worked at The Salvation Army, ChildFund Australia and Black Swan State Theatre Company (Western Australia’s State Theatre Company). She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Curtin University and a Graduate Certificate in Social Impact from UNSW.
As the community in which we live is strongly connected to our business practices, Shona is passionate in finding the synergies between the two.

Meg - Administration Coordinator
Meg joined SVA in May 2017 to support the Evidence for Learning team as Administration Coordinator.
SVA is Meg’s first foray into the non-profit sector. Previously, she worked in corporate property, and in the allied health industry.
Meg studied Primary Education at Griffith University in Brisbane, and brings with her an understanding and commitment for helping educators in the many challenges they face to make the best decisions for their students.
A passionate advocate for a holistic approach to education, Meg is hopeful for the future of the Australian education system, and its role in helping the next generation to reach their greatest potential as students and as individuals.
